He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism.

Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.

He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord’s coming! Clear the road for him!’”

“Teacher,” they said, “we know how honest you are. You are impartial and don’t play favorites. You teach the way of God truthfully. Now tell us—is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.

When they heard this, all the people—even the tax collectors—agreed that God’s way was right, for they had been baptized by John.

Then he said, “You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?

She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”

When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately.

About that time, serious trouble developed in Ephesus concerning the Way.

“Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied, “The baptism of John.”

But some became stubborn, rejecting his message and publicly speaking against the Way. So Paul left the synagogue and took the believers with him. Then he held daily discussions at the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them—both men and women—back to Jerusalem in chains.

Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.

Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

I did this to test Israel—to see whether or not they would follow the ways of the Lord as their ancestors did.”

“As for me, I will certainly not sin against the Lord by ending my prayers for you. And I will continue to teach you what is good and right.
