Acts 1:3

New Living Translation

During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.

So he got up and ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to travel forty days and forty nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God.

I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.

And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him.

“Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry.

When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said.

Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened.

This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead.

And over a period of many days he appeared to those who had gone with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to the people of Israel.

Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly for the next three months, arguing persuasively about the Kingdom of God.

So a time was set, and on that day a large number of people came to Paul’s lodging. He explained and testified about the Kingdom of God and tried to persuade them about Jesus from the Scriptures. Using the law of Moses and the books of the prophets, he spoke to them from morning until evening.

boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. And no one tried to stop him.

But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

“Then, as before, I threw myself down before the Lord for forty days and nights. I ate no bread and drank no water because of the great sin you had committed by doing what the Lord hated, provoking him to anger.

This happened when I was on the mountain receiving the tablets of stone inscribed with the words of the covenant that the Lord had made with you. I was there for forty days and forty nights, and all that time I ate no food and drank no water.

For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,

We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory.

We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.
