But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I cried to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry reached his ears.

“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress.

Then I called on the name of the Lord: “Please, Lord, save me!”

I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.

But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.

The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles.

Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.

Then I said, ‘O Lord, you have driven me from your presence. Yet I will look once more toward your holy Temple.’

As my life was slipping away, I remembered the Lord. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy Temple.

But the Lord is in his holy Temple. Let all the earth be silent before him.”

He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.

For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
