Will God listen to their cry when trouble comes upon them?

“When they cry for help, I will not answer. Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me.

When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.

Then at last the people will look to their Creator and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.

They will no longer look to their idols for help or worship what their own hands have made. They will never again bow down to their Asherah poles or worship at the pagan shrines they have built.

“Son of man, tell the leaders of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: How dare you come to ask me for a message? As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, I will tell you nothing!’

Then you beg the Lord for help in times of trouble! Do you really expect him to answer? After all the evil you have done, he won’t even look at you!”

He asked the Lord what he should do, but the Lord refused to answer him, either by dreams or by sacred lots or by the prophets.
