honey, butter, sheep, goats, and cheese for David and those who were with him. For they said, “You must all be very hungry and tired and thirsty after your long march through the wilderness.”

The king and all who were with him grew weary along the way, so they rested when they reached the Jordan River.

“What are these for?” the king asked Ziba. Ziba replied, “The donkeys are for the king’s people to ride on, and the bread and summer fruit are for the young men to eat. The wine is for those who become exhausted in the wilderness.”

I will catch up with him while he is weary and discouraged. He and his troops will panic, and everyone will run away. Then I will kill only the king,

Hungry and thirsty, they nearly died.

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.

Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!

O people of Tema, bring water to these thirsty people, food to these weary refugees.

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

And give these ten cuts of cheese to their captain. See how your brothers are getting along, and bring back a report on how they are doing.”
