“My lords,” he said, “come to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may then get up early in the morning and be on your way again.” “Oh no,” they replied. “We’ll just spend the night out here in the city square.”

The manager then led the men into Joseph’s palace. He gave them water to wash their feet and provided food for their donkeys.

And Joseph filled their plates with food from his own table, giving Benjamin five times as much as he gave the others. So they feasted and drank freely with him.

Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts.

God would surely have known it, for he knows the secrets of every heart.

His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their evil deeds in the dark! “The Lord can’t see us,” they say. “He doesn’t know what’s going on!”

The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all.

Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
