And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life!

“The shadow always moves forward,” Hezekiah replied, “so that would be easy. Make it go ten steps backward instead.”

He says, “You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me. I will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Then Isaiah said, “Listen well, you royal family of David! Isn’t it enough to exhaust human patience? Must you exhaust the patience of my God as well?

“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!

“I am the Lord, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?

“Have you seen this, son of man?” he asked. “Is it nothing to the people of Judah that they commit these detestable sins, leading the whole nation into violence, thumbing their noses at me, and provoking my anger?

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”

For the word of God will never fail.”

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
