During Jehoiachin’s reign, the officers of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came up against Jerusalem and besieged it.

Then King Jehoiachin, along with the queen mother, his advisers, his commanders, and his officials, surrendered to the Babylonians. In the eighth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, he took Jehoiachin prisoner.

I will be your enemy, surrounding Jerusalem and attacking its walls. I will build siege towers and destroy it.

Then I will arrange to take you to another land like this one—a land of grain and new wine, bread and vineyards.

“Say to these rebels of Israel: Don’t you understand the meaning of this riddle of the eagles? The king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, took away her king and princes, and brought them to Babylon.

Then the armies of the nations attacked him, surrounding him from every direction. They threw a net over him and captured him in their pit.
