Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them.

Then he cursed Canaan, the son of Ham: “May Canaan be cursed! May he be the lowest of servants to his relatives.”

You know your father and his men; they are mighty warriors. Right now they are as enraged as a mother bear who has been robbed of her cubs. And remember that your father is an experienced man of war. He won’t be spending the night among the troops.

and the man of God started off again. But as he was traveling along, a lion came out and killed him. His body lay there on the road, with the donkey and the lion standing beside it.

Anyone who escapes from Hazael will be killed by Jehu, and those who escape Jehu will be killed by Elisha!

Then the prophet told him, “Because you have not obeyed the voice of the Lord, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me.” And when he had gone, a lion did attack and kill him.

From there Elisha went to Mount Carmel and finally returned to Samaria.

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

It is safer to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than to confront a fool caught in foolishness.

Punishment is made for mockers, and the backs of fools are made to be beaten.

A wicked ruler is as dangerous to the poor as a roaring lion or an attacking bear.

Therefore, this is what the Lord says: ‘You must die. Your life will end this very year because you have rebelled against the Lord.’”

Give them hard and stubborn hearts, and then let your curse fall on them!

Like a bear whose cubs have been taken away, I will tear out your heart. I will devour you like a hungry lioness and mangle you like a wild animal.

I will send wild animals that will rob you of your children and destroy your livestock. Your numbers will dwindle, and your roads will be deserted.

But this is what the Lord says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute in this city, and your sons and daughters will be killed. Your land will be divided up, and you yourself will die in a foreign land. And the people of Israel will certainly become captives in exile, far from their homeland.’”

Then Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat your fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.

Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, “Look, Rabbi! The fig tree you cursed has withered and died!”

As soon as Ananias heard these words, he fell to the floor and died. Everyone who heard about it was terrified.

And Peter said, “How could the two of you even think of conspiring to test the Spirit of the Lord like this? The young men who buried your husband are just outside the door, and they will carry you out, too.”

But Peter replied, “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought!

And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient.

But if you have not acted in good faith, then may fire come out from Abimelech and devour the leading citizens of Shechem and Beth-millo; and may fire come out from the citizens of Shechem and Beth-millo and devour Abimelech!”

God also punished the men of Shechem for all their evil. So the curse of Jotham son of Gideon was fulfilled.
