As they were climbing the hill to the town, they met some young women coming out to draw water. So Saul and his servant asked, “Is the seer here today?”

He made the camels kneel beside a well just outside the town. It was evening, and the women were coming out to draw water.

Before he had finished praying, he saw a young woman named Rebekah coming out with her water jug on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel, who was the son of Abraham’s brother Nahor and his wife, Milcah.

“We can’t water the animals until all the flocks have arrived,” they replied. “Then the shepherds move the stone from the mouth of the well, and we water all the sheep and goats.”

Jacob was still talking with them when Rachel arrived with her father’s flock, for she was a shepherd.

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters who came as usual to draw water and fill the water troughs for their father’s flocks.

Don’t wait in ambush at the home of the godly, and don’t raid the house where the godly live.

Listen to the village musicians gathered at the watering holes. They recount the righteous victories of the Lord and the victories of his villagers in Israel. Then the people of the Lord marched down to the city gates.

“All right,” Saul agreed, “let’s try it!” So they started into the town where the man of God lived.
