“When the Israelites were in Egypt and cried out to the Lord, he sent Moses and Aaron to rescue them from Egypt and to bring them into this land.
He gave his people the lands of pagan nations, and they harvested crops that others had planted.
On that very day the Lord brought the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt like an army.
The Aaron and Moses named in this list are the same ones to whom the Lord said, “Lead the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt like an army.”
Our ancestors went down to Egypt, and we lived there a long time, and we and our ancestors were brutally mistreated by the Egyptians.
So Jacob went to Egypt. He died there, as did our ancestors.
“Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them.
So the Lord gave to Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there.
And he said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, has declared: I brought you from Egypt and rescued you from the Egyptians and from all of the nations that were oppressing you.
“It was the Lord who appointed Moses and Aaron,” Samuel continued. “He brought your ancestors out of the land of Egypt.
