When Saul mobilized them at Bezek, he found that there were 300,000 men from Israel and 30,000 men from Judah.

Joab reported the number of people to the king. There were 800,000 capable warriors in Israel who could handle a sword, and 500,000 in Judah.

So King Joram promptly mustered the army of Israel and marched from Samaria.

The leaders of all the people and all the tribes of Israel—400,000 warriors armed with swords—took their positions in the assembly of the people of God.

So Saul sent the messengers back to Jabesh-gilead to say, “We will rescue you by noontime tomorrow!” There was great joy throughout the town when that message arrived!

Samuel then left Gilgal and went on his way, but the rest of the troops went with Saul to meet the army. They went up from Gilgal to Gibeah in the land of Benjamin. When Saul counted the men who were still with him, he found only 600 were left!

So Saul mobilized his army at Telaim. There were 200,000 soldiers from Israel and 10,000 men from Judah.
