But Sarai was unable to become pregnant and had no children.

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had not been able to bear children for him. But she had an Egyptian servant named Hagar.

For the Lord had caused all the women to be infertile because of what happened with Abraham’s wife, Sarah.

When Rachel saw that she wasn’t having any children for Jacob, she became jealous of her sister. She pleaded with Jacob, “Give me children, or I’ll die!”

Then Jacob became furious with Rachel. “Am I God?” he asked. “He’s the one who has kept you from having children!”

And Joseph filled their plates with food from his own table, giving Benjamin five times as much as he gave the others. So they feasted and drank freely with him.

And he gave each of them new clothes—but to Benjamin he gave five changes of clothes and 300 pieces of silver.
