Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.

The apostles left the high council rejoicing that God had counted them worthy to suffer disgrace for the name of Jesus.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.

And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.

For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.

We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.

Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,

I am glad when I suffer for you in my body, for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church.

If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us.

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you:

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.

Look! He comes with the clouds of heaven. And everyone will see him— even those who pierced him. And all the nations of the world will mourn for him. Yes! Amen!

I, John, am your brother and your partner in suffering and in God’s Kingdom and in the patient endurance to which Jesus calls us. I was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching the word of God and for my testimony about Jesus.
