He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

Surely you wouldn’t do such a thing, destroying the righteous along with the wicked. Why, you would be treating the righteous and the wicked exactly the same! Surely you wouldn’t do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?”

But you see the trouble and grief they cause. You take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You defend the orphans.

I entrust my spirit into your hand. Rescue me, Lord, for you are a faithful God.

Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.

God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day.

before the Lord, for he is coming! He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with justice, and the nations with his truth.

He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.

We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”

Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

He asked Jesus question after question, but Jesus refused to answer.

For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”

And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.

As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the Lord’s followers. So he went to the high priest.

But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them; remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favorites.

And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering.

That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.

And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to his appearing.

Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.

Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. Its rider was named Faithful and True, for he judges fairly and wages a righteous war.
