Benaiah son of Jehoiada was commander of the army. Zadok and Abiathar were priests.

Benaiah son of Jehoiada was captain of the king’s bodyguard. And David’s sons served as priestly leaders.

Then the king appointed Benaiah to command the army in place of Joab, and he installed Zadok the priest to take the place of Abiathar.
