Then Solomon woke up and realized it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem and stood before the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, where he sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he invited all his officials to a great banquet.

“Please, my lord,” one of them began, “this woman and I live in the same house. I gave birth to a baby while she was with me in the house.

The next day, Moses took his seat to hear the people’s disputes against each other. They waited before him from morning till evening.

When a dispute arises, they come to me, and I am the one who settles the case between the quarreling parties. I inform the people of God’s decrees and give them his instructions.”

It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.

“Do not defile your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will be filled with prostitution and wickedness.

These women stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the tribal leaders, and the entire community at the entrance of the Tabernacle.

“No Israelite, whether man or woman, may become a temple prostitute.

Then Joshua secretly sent out two spies from the Israelite camp at Acacia Grove. He instructed them, “Scout out the land on the other side of the Jordan River, especially around Jericho.” So the two men set out and came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there that night.

Now Jephthah of Gilead was a great warrior. He was the son of Gilead, but his mother was a prostitute.
