Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”

He looked around and there beside his head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water! So he ate and drank and lay down again.

Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.

For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

Then he said, “I am here to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath. What you have seen pertains to the very end of time.

As I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came swiftly to me at the time of the evening sacrifice.

Then the angel who had been talking with me returned and woke me, as though I had been asleep.

Suddenly, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of the Lord stood before Peter. The angel struck him on the side to awaken him and said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists.

Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
