So Bathsheba went into the king’s bedroom. (He was very old now, and Abishag was taking care of him.)

She replied, “My lord, you made a vow before the Lord your God when you said to me, ‘Your son Solomon will surely be the next king and will sit on my throne.’

The king’s officials told him, “Nathan the prophet is here to see you.” Nathan went in and bowed before the king with his face to the ground.

“I have one small request to make of you,” she said. “I hope you won’t turn me down.” “What is it, my mother?” he asked. “You know I won’t refuse you.”

David came out and shouted after him, “My lord the king!” And when Saul looked around, David bowed low before him.

When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed low before him.
