Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, “Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you.”

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; or if we are of sound mind, it is for you.

gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,

And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

To Timothy, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,

Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;

one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence

Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money,

Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,

This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled,

in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility,

yet for love’s sake I rather appeal to you—being such a one as Paul, the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ—

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
