So the Lord sent a plague upon Israel from the morning till the appointed time. From Dan to Beersheba seventy thousand men of the people died.

“When there is famine in the land, pestilence or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers; when their enemy besieges them in the land of their cities; whatever plague or whatever sickness there is;

Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity.

Will a bird fall into a snare on the earth, where there is no trap for it? Will a snare spring up from the earth, if it has caught nothing at all?

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
