A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.

The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance is of the Lord.

I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.

And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift horses”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift!

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the Lord!

Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.”
