So the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as He had promised him; and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty together.

Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.”

And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.

And give my son Solomon a loyal heart to keep Your commandments and Your testimonies and Your statutes, to do all these things, and to build the temple for which I have made provision.”

In my distress I cried to the Lord, And He heard me.

I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help?

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens.

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say—

Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.

Give the king Your judgments, O God, And Your righteousness to the king’s Son.

And He built His sanctuary like the heights, Like the earth which He has established forever.

A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.

I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.

The watchmen who go about the city found me; I said, “Have you seen the one I love?”

The watchmen who went about the city found me. They struck me, they wounded me; The keepers of the walls Took my veil away from me.

I, the Lord, keep it, I water it every moment; Lest any hurt it, I keep it night and day.

His watchmen are blind, They are all ignorant; They are all dumb dogs, They cannot bark; Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,

Set up the standard on the walls of Babylon; Make the guard strong, Set up the watchmen, Prepare the ambushes. For the Lord has both devised and done What He spoke against the inhabitants of Babylon.

One runner will run to meet another, And one messenger to meet another, To show the king of Babylon that his city is taken on all sides;

And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.

So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain.

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.”
