A haughty look, a proud heart, And the plowing of the wicked are sin.

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; How much more when he brings it with wicked intent!

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.

The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, The haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

There is a generation—oh, how lofty are their eyes! And their eyelids are lifted up.

The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

For there will be no prospect for the evil man; The lamp of the wicked will be put out.

“The light of the wicked indeed goes out, And the flame of his fire does not shine.

The light is dark in his tent, And his lamp beside him is put out.

Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.

Lord, my heart is not haughty, Nor my eyes lofty. Neither do I concern myself with great matters, Nor with things too profound for me.

These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Lord has performed all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, that He will say, “I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.”
