He winks his eye to devise perverse things; He purses his lips and brings about evil.

He who winks with the eye causes trouble, But a prating fool will fall.

An ungodly man digs up evil, And it is on his lips like a burning fire.

A violent man entices his neighbor, And leads him in a way that is not good.

The silver-haired head is a crown of glory, If it is found in the way of righteousness.

“Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed.”

That they may successfully do evil with both hands— The prince asks for gifts, The judge seeks a bribe, And the great man utters his evil desire; So they scheme together.

For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
