The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

It came to pass the same day that Isaac’s servants came and told him about the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”

They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing,

He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich.

The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself.

He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding.

The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

The lazy man does not roast what he took in hunting, But diligence is man’s precious possession.

He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

A righteous man hates lying, But a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame.

The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.

The desire of the lazy man kills him, For his hands refuse to labor.

The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.

I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;

And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; Its stone wall was broken down.

The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!”

He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered.

Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise,

Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.

I have taken off my robe; How can I put it on again? I have washed my feet; How can I defile them?

The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

“Who can count the dust of Jacob, Or number one-fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, And let my end be like his!”

Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,

And they returned to Joshua and said to him, “Do not let all the people go up, but let about two or three thousand men go up and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there, for the people of Ai are few.”
