Numbers 11:18

New King James Version

Then you shall say to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat.

And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments.

Though he spares it and does not forsake it, But still keeps it in his mouth,

When he is about to fill his stomach, God will cast on him the fury of His wrath, And will rain it on him while he is eating.

Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?”

Also Moses said, “This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes.

And he said to the people, “Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives.”

Also let the priests who come near the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them.”

Now when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the fire of the Lord burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp.

You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days,

whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt,

Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the Lord God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.”

Then the people came to the house of God, and remained there before God till evening. They lifted up their voices and wept bitterly,
