So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?

I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; Show me why You contend with me.

If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?

Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous.

So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!”

So Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Lord, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why is it You have sent me?

Woe is me, my mother, That you have borne me, A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent for interest, Nor have men lent to me for interest. Every one of them curses me.

Why is my pain perpetual And my wound incurable, Which refuses to be healed? Will You surely be to me like an unreliable stream, As waters that fail?

You have said, ‘It is useless to serve God; What profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, And that we have walked as mourners Before the Lord of hosts?

Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and the anger of the Lord was greatly aroused; Moses also was displeased.

If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—if I have found favor in Your sight—and do not let me see my wretchedness!”

besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.

How can I alone bear your problems and your burdens and your complaints?
