Then He began to tell the people this parable: “A certain man planted a vineyard, leased it to vinedressers, and went into a far country for a long time.

But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’

But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk,

After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?

I sleep, but my heart is awake; It is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, “Open for me, my sister, my love, My dove, my perfect one; For my head is covered with dew, My locks with the drops of the night.”

By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him.

But hold fast what you have till I come.

but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple.

I have taken off my robe; How can I put it on again? I have washed my feet; How can I defile them?
