Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, “John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.”

And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and large stones. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong.

Also the Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah. His fame spread as far as the entrance of Egypt, for he became exceedingly strong.

But when they had departed, they spread the news about Him in all that country.

And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.

However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.

So they answered, “John the Baptist; but some say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.”

On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, “Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.”

Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,

And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.

So they answered and said, “John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”

For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?
