There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,
But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons.
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.
Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?
Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.
My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague, And my relatives stand afar off.
