Leviticus 16:34

This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel, for all their sins, once a year.” And he did as the Lord commanded Moses.

In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil which is before the Testimony, Aaron and his sons shall tend it from evening until morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute forever to their generations on behalf of the children of Israel.

And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”

Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the Lord had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them.

and the Lord said to Moses: “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Holy Place inside the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud above the mercy seat.

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the Lord your God.

You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

Then Moses spoke to the children of Israel; and they took outside the camp him who had cursed, and stoned him with stones. So the children of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses.

‘This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.’ ”

‘On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls; you shall not do any work.

For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.

not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another—

But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance;
