And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”

But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”

For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves.

This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”

Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?”

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

And there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.”

nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.
