Others said, “These are not the words of one who has a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?
The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see?
When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.
Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.
The hearing ear and the seeing eye, The Lord has made them both.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous.
Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had said.
Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
