“Man decays like a rotten thing, Like a garment that is moth-eaten.

“My spirit is broken, My days are extinguished, The grave is ready for me.

If I wait for the grave as my house, If I make my bed in the darkness,

“As for me, is my complaint against man? And if it were, why should I not be impatient?

“How have you helped him who is without power? How have you saved the arm that has no strength?

Is my strength the strength of stones? Or is my flesh bronze?

He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days.

“Lord, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am.

Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah
