Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.

“Hold your peace with me, and let me speak, Then let come on me what may!

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

For a dream comes through much activity, And a fool’s voice is known by his many words.

Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.

So these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

“How long will you torment my soul, And break me in pieces with words?

“How long till you put an end to words? Gain understanding, and afterward we will speak.

Shall words of wind have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?

Should your empty talk make men hold their peace? And when you mock, should no one rebuke you?

Now hear my reasoning, And heed the pleadings of my lips.

Look at me and be astonished; Put your hand over your mouth.

And I have waited, because they did not speak, Because they stood still and answered no more.
