There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Is not your reverence your confidence? And the integrity of your ways your hope?

“I am blameless, yet I do not know myself; I despise my life.

Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

A wise man fears and departs from evil, But a fool rages and is self-confident.

He who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, But he who is perverse in his ways despises Him.

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.

The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.

all the mixed multitude, all the kings of the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the Philistines (namely, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod);
