Therefore My heart shall wail like flutes for Moab, And like flutes My heart shall wail For the men of Kir Heres. Therefore the riches they have acquired have perished.

Then they destroyed the cities, and each man threw a stone on every good piece of land and filled it; and they stopped up all the springs of water and cut down all the good trees. But they left the stones of Kir Haraseth intact. However the slingers surrounded and attacked it.

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own esteem.

“My heart will cry out for Moab; His fugitives shall flee to Zoar, Like a three-year-old heifer. For by the Ascent of Luhith They will go up with weeping; For in the way of Horonaim They will raise up a cry of destruction,

Therefore the abundance they have gained, And what they have laid up, They will carry away to the Brook of the Willows.

Therefore my heart shall resound like a harp for Moab, And my inner being for Kir Heres.

Look down from heaven, And see from Your habitation, holy and glorious. Where are Your zeal and Your strength, The yearning of Your heart and Your mercies toward me? Are they restrained?

“As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, So is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, And at his end he will be a fool.”

O my soul, my soul! I am pained in my very heart! My heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, Because you have heard, O my soul, The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.

Therefore I will wail for Moab, And I will cry out for all Moab; I will mourn for the men of Kir Heres.
