Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt.

He sent a man before them— Joseph—who was sold as a slave.

Then Gideon said to them, “I would like to make a request of you, that each of you would give me the earrings from his plunder.” For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.

Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, “Rule over us, both you and your son, and your grandson also; for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.”

“Harass the Midianites, and attack them;

And the name of the Midianite woman who was killed was Cozbi the daughter of Zur; he was head of the people of a father’s house in Midian.

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. And they came and drew water, and they filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.

Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. And Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him down there.

When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him.”

For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and also I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon.”

“He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, shall surely be put to death.

and if from five years old up to twenty years old, then your valuation for a male shall be twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels;

So they pulled Jeremiah up with ropes and lifted him out of the dungeon. And Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
