Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking,

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.

Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, Him I will destroy; The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart, Him I will not endure.

Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases.

For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,

Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;

Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature.

An angry man stirs up strife, And a furious man abounds in transgression.

A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated.

Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.

Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.

And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peaceably to him.
