Deuteronomy 26:5

And you shall answer and say before the Lord your God: ‘My father was a Syrian, about to perish, and he went down to Egypt and dwelt there, few in number; and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous.

Your fathers went down to Egypt with seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as the stars of heaven in multitude.

And the sons of Joseph who were born to him in Egypt were two persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob who went to Egypt were seventy.

And Jacob stole away, unknown to Laban the Syrian, in that he did not tell him that he intended to flee.

There I will provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.” ’

And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

Take double money in your hand, and take back in your hand the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks; perhaps it was an oversight.

But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob neither good nor bad.”

So Jacob went down to Egypt; and he died, he and our fathers.

Jacob fled to the country of Syria; Israel served for a spouse, And for a wife he tended sheep.

Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.

but you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”

The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.

But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).

So Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions there and grew and multiplied exceedingly.

There I was! In the day the drought consumed me, and the frost by night, and my sleep departed from my eyes.

So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.

So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.

And they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to dwell in the land, because your servants have no pasture for their flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.”

The Lord your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude.

“Then the priest shall take the basket out of your hand and set it down before the altar of the Lord your God.

By a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, And by a prophet he was preserved.
