Also Daniel petitioned the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon; but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

When virgins were gathered together a second time, Mordecai sat within the king’s gate.

In those days, while Mordecai sat within the king’s gate, two of the king’s eunuchs, Bigthan and Teresh, doorkeepers, became furious and sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus.

And all the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.

When the righteous rejoice, there is great glory; But when the wicked arise, men hide themselves.

Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions,

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was sixty cubits and its width six cubits. He set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss.

Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts Will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
