Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” So Paul stretched out his hand and answered for himself:

I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, And will not be ashamed.

Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,

He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him.

The first one to plead his cause seems right, Until his neighbor comes and examines him.

“Behold, therefore, I stretched out My hand against you, diminished your allotment, and gave you up to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd behavior.

“Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”

“Brethren and fathers, hear my defense before you now.”

To them I answered, ‘It is not the custom of the Romans to deliver any man to destruction before the accused meets the accusers face to face, and has opportunity to answer for himself concerning the charge against him.’

For it seems to me unreasonable to send a prisoner and not to specify the charges against him.”

“I think myself happy, King Agrippa, because today I shall answer for myself before you concerning all the things of which I am accused by the Jews,

But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

But to Israel he says: “All day long I have stretched out My hands To a disobedient and contrary people.”
