Then Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city—from Giloh—while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number.

Ahithophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s companion.

They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth with high honor among the people.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

For what purpose to Me Comes frankincense from Sheba, And sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable, Nor your sacrifices sweet to Me.”
