For we will surely die and become like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. Yet God does not take away a life; but He devises means, so that His banished ones are not expelled from Him.

For I know that You will bring me to death, And to the house appointed for all living.

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest the manslayer may return to the land of his possession.

All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust.

So the congregation shall deliver the manslayer from the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall return him to the city of refuge where he had fled, and he shall remain there until the death of the high priest who was anointed with the holy oil.

These six cities shall be for refuge for the children of Israel, for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them, that anyone who kills a person accidentally may flee there.

For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.

I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me.

If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes.

Yet He is not partial to princes, Nor does He regard the rich more than the poor; For they are all the work of His hands.

Then David said to the messenger, “Thus you shall say to Joab: ‘Do not let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Strengthen your attack against the city, and overthrow it.’ So encourage him.”

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.

‘But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me,

And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;

Then Peter opened his mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.

However, if he did not lie in wait, but God delivered him into his hand, then I will appoint for you a place where he may flee.

Now therefore, I have come to speak of this thing to my lord the king because the people have made me afraid. And your maidservant said, ‘I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his maidservant.

And I will afflict the descendants of David because of this, but not forever.’ ”

My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death.

Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore?

For the Lord will not cast off forever.

Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?
