Now Gehazi went on ahead of them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice nor hearing. Therefore he went back to meet him, and told him, saying, “The child has not awakened.”

So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.

And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.

When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed.

But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Look, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, while not receiving from his hands what he brought; but as the Lord lives, I will run after him and take something from him.”

So man lies down and does not rise. Till the heavens are no more, They will not awake Nor be roused from their sleep.

“Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before them that which causes them to stumble into iniquity. Should I let Myself be inquired of at all by them?

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.”

These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”

Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

So Saul asked counsel of God, “Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will You deliver them into the hand of Israel?” But He did not answer him that day.

And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets.
