Then David said to him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?” And he said, “I am a young man from Egypt, servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me behind, because three days ago I fell sick.

Then David said to the young man who told him, “Where are you from?” And he answered, “I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite.”

And David said to him, “Where have you come from?” So he said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Israel.”

And he said to me, ‘Who are you?’ So I answered him, ‘I am an Amalekite.’

A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Then they said to him, “Please tell us! For whose cause is this trouble upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?”

For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. So when he had eaten, his strength came back to him; for he had eaten no bread nor drunk water for three days and three nights.
