Then Jacob was angry and rebuked Laban, and Jacob answered and said to Laban: “What is my trespass? What is my sin, that you have so hotly pursued me?

Make no friendship with an angry man, And with a furious man do not go,

Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”

And Saul cast the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall!” But David escaped his presence twice.

Thus Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father, and said to him, “Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you.

For he took his life in his hands and killed the Philistine, and the Lord brought about a great deliverance for all Israel. You saw it and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?”

Then David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and went and said to Jonathan, “What have I done? What is my iniquity, and what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?”

If he says thus: ‘It is well,’ your servant will be safe. But if he is very angry, be sure that evil is determined by him.

So Ahimelech answered the king and said, “And who among all your servants is as faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, who goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house?
