They utter speech, and speak insolent things; All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.

All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits.

If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?

The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate.

The way of the just is uprightness; O Most Upright, You weigh the path of the just.

“Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice, And lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel.

I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.

Thus with your mouth you have boasted against Me and multiplied your words against Me; I have heard them.”

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all of whose works are truth, and His ways justice. And those who walk in pride He is able to put down.

“Your words have been harsh against Me,” Says the Lord, “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against You?’

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

“The Lord God of gods, the Lord God of gods, He knows, and let Israel itself know—if it is in rebellion, or if in treachery against the Lord, do not save us this day.

I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.

Then Zebul said to him, “Where indeed is your mouth now, with which you said, ‘Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?’ Are not these the people whom you despised? Go out, if you will, and fight with them now.”

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
