And two men, scoundrels, came in and sat before him; and the scoundrels witnessed against him, against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, “Naboth has blasphemed God and the king!” Then they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, so that he died.

Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, “Naboth has been stoned and is dead.”

But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. And the king sent a man ahead of him, but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent someone to take away my head? So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.

Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die!”

If I have eaten its fruit without money, Or caused its owners to lose their lives;

Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence.

Fierce witnesses rise up; They ask me things that I do not know.

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

A disreputable witness scorns justice, And the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity.

A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies will not escape.

A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who speaks lies shall perish.

A man who bears false witness against his neighbor Is like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow.

A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Do not curse the king, even in your thought; Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom; For a bird of the air may carry your voice, And a bird in flight may tell the matter.

Then I returned and considered all the oppression that is done under the sun: And look! The tears of the oppressed, But they have no comforter— On the side of their oppressors there is power, But they have no comforter.

They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!”

And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”

From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.”

For we have found this man a plague, a creator of dissension among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear.
